Ian started his career as lead singer and lyricist of rock band Angelheart. After four years of constant gigging and recording and landing radio air time on Tommy Vance’s Radio 1 Friday Rock Show, lan chose a different path.

Knowing that performing infront of a live audience was his calling, after a two year BTEC Performing Arts Diploma, he was extremely lucky to be accepted at the prestigious Manchester Metropolitan School Of Theatre (Capitol Theatre). Previous Graduates from the school include Steve Coogan, Julie Walters, Caroline Aherne and David Threlfall.

Ian graduated with a BA (Hons) Acting degree in 1999. He made his debut acting performance at The Royal Exchange Theatre Manchester. This was quickly followed by parts in TV shows Bad Girls, Crimes That Shook Britain, a lead part in TV drama Bloody Murder and a recurring part in Coronation Street.

In 2009 after years of being a jobbing actor, Ian realised that his passion for ghost stories, the work of M.R James and Hammer Horror Films offered up the potential for a new line of work bringing about the creation of Flecky Bennett.

Ian has now written and performed over 20 different Flecky Bennett Productions and he is described as “Ghost Walker Extraordinaire” by Visit Manchester. Flecky has performed for over 50,000 people in the last 13 years, earning several Tripadvisor

Certificates of Excellence and a place in Tripadvisor’s Hall of Fame.

Flecky has also branched out into TV with regular guest spots on Amazon Prime and Now TV’s Ghost Dimension Flying Solo and Discovery Channel’s Dark Towns.

Ian is hoping to begin his first Flecky Bennett performance outside the UK with The Paris Ghost Walk which is currently on hold due to Brexit restrictions.

During Covid and the periods of lockdown, Ian and his wife Emma have created 20 brand new online “Friday Fright Night” Facebook/YouTube performances, 3 Virtual performances, 2 Zoom performances and an extended range of merchandise.
